German Escape – 7 Day Tour from Berlin to Munich

Welcome to Berlin

Berlin’s combo of glamour and grit is bound to mesmerise anyone keen to explore its vibrant culture, cutting-edge architecture, fabulous food, intense parties and tangible history.

Munich is Bavarian heritage

The natural habitat of well-heeled power dressers and Lederhosen-clad thigh-slappers, Mediterranean-style street cafes and Mitteleuropa beer halls, highbrow art and high-tech industry, Germany’s unofficial southern capital is a flourishing success story that revels in its own contradictions. If you’re looking for Alpine clichés, they’re all here, but the Bavarian metropolis has many an unexpected card down its Dirndl.

Travel Plan

Arrive in Berlin, Germany.

Time to rest or to start exploring the German capital.

At 6 pm, meet your Tour Director and traveling companions for a welcome dinner at your hotel. (Dinner)

Sightseeing with a Local Guide in the once-divided metropolis includes the elegant Ku’damm, the restored Reichstag, Charlottenburg Palace, a picture stop at monumental Brandenburg Gate and the Holocaust Memorial, and the 210-foot Victory Column in the vast Tiergarten Park.

Visit the KAISER WILHELM MEMORIAL CHURCH with its bomb-damaged tower, drive along Unter den Linden Boulevard, and pass the State Opera House and Checkpoint Charlie. (Breakfast)

Arrive in Dresden, former capital of Saxony.

Badly damaged by Allied bombing in February 1945, the city has since been restored to its baroque splendor.

During your guided walking tour, visit the Zwinger Palace COURTYARD to admire its impressive architecture; the magnificent baroque Semper Opera, originally built in 1841, once destroyed by fire, then destroyed by bombing, and finally restored in 1985; and the newly rebuilt Frauenkirche. (Breakfast)

In Weimar, follow your Tour Director for a pleasant walk through this pretty town. See the houses where great poets like Goethe and Schiller lived and the theater where the Weimar Constitution was drafted.

Continue to Nuremberg, known for its children’s toys and gingerbread. Admire the impressive medieval ramparts as you walk through the pedestrian area of the charming Old Town and see St. Sebald Church, painstakingly reconstructed as a monument to peace from the rubble of near-total wartime destruction.

Also admire the Schöner Brunnen, a 14th-century fountain dedicated to the Holy Roman Empire. It is said that it brings good luck to spin the two brass rings. (Breakfast)

Drive south through Bavaria to the city of Augsburg.

During your orientation see the Cathedral, the Rathausplatz, the Augustus Fountain and the Perlach Tower, the city’s most famous landmarks. The highlight is a visit to the TOWN HALL with its Baroque Golden Hall. Later, an interesting visit to the Fuggerei has been included.

A city within the city, the Fuggerei was founded almost 500 years ago by Jakob Fugger the Rich as a housing complex for needy Augsburgers, and it has been in continuous operation fulfilling its mission since that time.

Here, in the oldest social housing complex in the world, visitors experience a fascinating journey through history – and the normal everyday life of its current residents. Continue to the Bavarian capital Munich. (Breakfast)

Sightseeing with a Local Guide of Germany’s “Secret Capital” the Olympic Stadium, built for the 1972 Olympics and the 1,000-foot-high Olympic Tower.

Drive along the Ludwigstrasse, and see the Bavarian Arch of Triumph and Field Marshall Hall.

Also see the Königsplatz, and visit MARIENPLATZ with its Old and the New Town Halls and the gothic Frauenkirche.

In the evening, a farewell dinner at a local restaurant is the best way to celebrate the success of your German vacation. (Breakfast, Dinner)

Your vacation ends with breakfast this morning. (Breakfast)
